Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s latest crime thriller Haiwaan is finding it difficult to build strong momentum at the box office. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film opened to a relatively subdued response and is now looking towards the weekend to improve its theatrical performance.

The film had collected around ₹3 crore net in India on Day 1, while its worldwide gross stood at approximately ₹4.60 crore after the opening day. On Day 2, early estimates indicated that the film had added around ₹0.40 crore by the time of the latest update, taking its India net total to approximately ₹3.40 crore. Priyadarshan Returns With a Hindi Adaptation

The film is a Hindi adaptation of Priyadarshan's 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam, which starred Mohanlal in the lead role.

However, the director has maintained that Haiwaan is not simply a scene-by-scene recreation of the original. The Hindi version has been developed with its own treatment while retaining the core thriller premise.

The release has also renewed interest in Oppam, with the Hindi-dubbed version reportedly seeing a rise in online viewership following Haiwaan's theatrical arrival.

Can the Weekend Change Haiwaan's Box Office Fate?

The weekend will be crucial for Haiwaan. A noticeable increase in occupancy and stronger word-of-mouth could help the film recover some ground after its slow opening.
