Gurugram, Haryana: Following continuous heavy rainfall that disrupted normal life across Gurugram, the city police have issued an advisory requesting corporate offices and private establishments to allow employees to work from home wherever possible. The advisory aims to reduce traffic congestion and ensure public safety as several parts of the city remain affected by waterlogging.

Heavy rain led to severe flooding on major roads, underpasses and service lanes, causing long traffic jams across Gurugram. Thousands of commuters remained stranded for hours as vehicles moved at a slow pace on key routes connecting Delhi and Gurugram.

One of the major disruptions occurred on National Highway-48 (NH-48) near Narsinghpur, where a section of the road caved in due to continuous rainfall. Authorities immediately diverted traffic to alternate routes while repair work began to restore normal movement.

In view of the worsening traffic conditions, Gurugram Police appealed to companies and private organizations to permit employees to work remotely over the next few days. Officials said the move would help reduce the number of vehicles on the roads and allow emergency services to function more efficiently.

Traffic police personnel were deployed across major intersections to manage congestion and assist stranded commuters. Authorities also urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel, follow traffic advisories and use alternate routes wherever possible.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rainfall over the coming days, raising concerns about additional waterlogging in low-lying areas. Civic agencies have intensified drainage operations and deployed pumps to remove accumulated rainwater from affected locations.

The heavy rainfall has once again highlighted Gurugram's recurring monsoon challenges, including inadequate drainage infrastructure, road cave-ins and prolonged traffic congestion. Authorities have assured residents that restoration work is underway and that all necessary measures are being taken to improve road conditions and ensure public safety.
